Lucky Tuesday?

Just an update... Things have been good today and I hope to be going home sometime tomorrow. Will it be a lucky Tuesday?? Earlier this morning my doctor discontinued the magnesium sulfate and the IV altogether and switched me to Procardia. Thankfully it has been working pretty well and I have only experienced increased contractions when I reach the 6 hour redose period.

As you likely expected, when I do get home I will have fairly strict bedrest orders for several weeks until we get farther along. I am so grateful to be surrounded by amazing friends and family that have the ability to step in and help us in this great time of need while Faith grows.

We found out today that Deacon will be able to start preschool, which helps tremendously during the week, and although my mommy-heart is sad because I won't get to take him, it will be some special bonding time for him and Daddy this fall! There are still many logistical issues that need to be figured out, but undoubtedly this is much better than me living at the hospital with a tiny one in the NICU.

We know this is difficult, but God is so good and I know He will give me the strength and patience to walk this daily, trusting in the plans for our family and all He still has for us to learn. Thank you for your love and encouragement as we make our way down this unforseen road! God continues to ask us to trust Him in the BIG and the small and we simply desire to respond in obedience.

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."- Romans 8:38-39

Kenzie,

I am so thankful for this wonderful news and glad you will be able to go home tomorrow. Bed rest won't always be fun but Faith is counting on it. All the news sounds good and God is so very good. You didn't need this scare but I am trusting the Lord to have everything under control. I am excited for you to meet her face to face when the time is right. I love you guys and prayers continue here daily for you.

I am so glad that things are getting better for you. I had a similar situation to yours...a baby boy that passed away at 20 weeks gestation and then got pregnant after with another baby boy and this time this one was trying to come out at 20 weeks. I was on pins and needles for the next 17 weeks..You got it...I made it from 20 weeks to 17 weeks with bedrest and eventually an emergency cerclage. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Please think of this as a time that God is giving Deacon to not only bond with his dad but gain some independence, I know that was what happened with my daughter who was four at the time. Thinking of your family.

Hi Kenzie - You don't know me, but we've been praying for you all. I came from Nate's blog. I just wanted you to know that our little family "survived" a pretty prolonged bedrest when my firstborn was just three. I have no family in the USA and it was tough at first - ESPECIALLY someone that was not me bringing Micaela to pre-school -so I understand your Mommy heart on that one :) but believe me, it was worth every day that I rested - much against my will i might add. Now, I have two healthy, beautiful children thanks to all that horrible medication that they gave me and having to be still. It is hard, but I'm glad you have many friends to help. I just wanted to offer you some encouragement. My son was born five weeks early and is now six years old and happy and healthy. I know that your baby girl will be the same. Girls are tougher too - I think that is a fact - or at least the NICU staff said that.
Hang in there and accept all the help you can get. We are all praying for a great outcome,
Blessings and prayers,
Tricia and Family (N.VA)

Found your blog through a series of others & have been reading for a few weeks now.

Bedrest is a horrible strain, both emotionally and physically. I did 8 weeks before our little preemie came into the world. There is a wonderful website of supportive women also on bedrest: sidelines.com. The posters there and a few real-life friends were my rock during bedrest. Hang in there and take good care of yourself & baby Faith! Thinking of & praying for you & yours in CT - MJ

I came across your blog via a friend of a friend, and it has really touched my heart. Your faith is such an encouragement to me. Our son was born two months premature, after I had been on strict bedrest for almost two months. He spent the first 6 weeks of his life in the NICU, but I am so happy to report that now he is a happy, healthy, thriving (though still very small!) four-month-old. The Lord has and will continue to hold you up through this time, and your beautiful little Faith is so worth it! You are on my heart and in my prayers.
