3 Months

Some of my favorite pictures of the new year...

Thank you so much for all of the prayers lifted up for us these past several weeks! We are doing well and staying busy with our two sweet babies, hence the lack of recent posts. Today Faith Clare is 3 months old and overall she has been a great baby. She is super smiley, loves looking at other smiling faces, is fascinated by her brother's play and well, still sleeps quite a bit.

...On the downside however, just the past two weeks, something in her has changed. We can't quite figure out what is wrong but she is clearly VERY uncomfortable and has been crying, often inconsolably. We have been to the doctor several times now, ensuring that it isn't anything obvious, and again today, the exam went well. She has been on several different medications for her reflux and while we continue to adjust the doses, our pediatrician feels that we might need to pursue things a bit further. Tomorrow we have an appointment to get an upper GI test and then we will be referred to a pediatric gastroenterologist at Texas Children's. While I continue to pray for God's hand of protection on her and her health and I truly believe that this is "temporary", my mind often wanders... Some days are more challenging than others and today was definitely one of them. If I could ask you to pray for her and the healing of whatever is distressing her, we would so greatly appreciate it!

Also, while I will soon be posting about Maddox's birthday and how we spent the day, I just want to let you know that it was beautiful, tearful and quite simply... thank-filled. We love you all and are so blessed by you!

"Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this"- Psalm 37:5

My daughter had GERD pretty severally so I can totally relate to what you are feeling. She cried that way from about 15 days old until well over 6 months. We were in and out of the children's hospital, different meds, it was so tough. We ended up having to stop nursing, use Dr. Brown bottles, add enough rice cereal to her bottles to make them sludge like in appearance so that the thickness would help it stay down and not have stomach acid burning her esophagus constantly. All that said, my point is that she is now 7 years old and perfectly fine, no lasting effects. It was a tough period in the short term, but you'll get through. (((((HUGS)))))

Kenz--

The first thing I wanted to tell you was that that first pic of Faith is absolutely striking! It is just a gorgeous pic of her...worthy of framing, in my opinion! She is just so beautiful. :-)

I will certainly be praying for this new situation....we are having a medical issue right now with Ethan too (which I have kept off of my blog for now, but I may talk about it soon once we know more of what is going on) and it is just so hard to watch your child sick or uncomfortable in any way. He had to have blood drawn Tuesday, and I didn't think I was going to make it! It was awful.

I will be steadfastly praying for you all as you face this--praying that God will lead the docs to quickly and efficiently get to the bottom of what is going on, and have the wisdom in knowing exactly what to do to treat her. And, also, for you--that your fears and worries would subside. I understand girl. I do.

Love you Kenz--I got your email and will get back with you soon.

Such beautiful babies! Will be praying Miss Faith feels better soon so her family can enjoy her. My sister had a baby with tummy discomfort. She took him to the local chiropractor in desperation one day and it really helped. She said it was like a massage, and he just relaxed and the tummy troubles were much better.
Amazing how much she resembles her brother! No denying they are siblings! Good to hear things are going well for the most part and I hope Faith feels better soon and you all get some definitive answers...sometimes the not knowing is the worst.

Okay, so I just wanted to get back to everyone who thinks I am letting my 3 month old lick a purple marker :) It's actually medicine called "gentian violet" and is an antiseptic as well as an antifungal... we used it for her 3rd bout with thrush. I called CVS, Target and finally Walgreens where I was able to find it. 3 days twice a day and it took care of it... only downside, it stains everything it comes in contact with as clearly stated on the label :)- skin and clothing! Yikes!

Faith has the most beautiful blue eyes! What a cutie!
Your children are so gorgeous!! Little Faith's smile is adorable and contagious! I'm sorry she is struggling with reflux. Our preemie daughter has had significant trouble with reflux, so I really sympathize. I'll be praying her tests come out ok.

Thanks for sharing pictures!

Pictures are wonderful. I can not believe how much she has grown.

I am lifting her up in prayer that her uncomfortable feeling goes away quickly.
